Nicole DeRosa (NB supervisor) presented to a young audience at the Children’s Hot Taps Summer Tap Dance Camp on the topic of financial literacy on August 15.  You can’t begin learning about this soon enough, right?  Terrific!

Don Scheier (PR partner), Brian Lovett (NB senior manager) and attorney friend, Martin Shenkman, Esq., co-authored “Individual Tax and Business Planning Articles, Forms K-1 for LLC and FLP Gifts: Traps for the Unwary,” which was published on August 21 on the CCH Wolters Kluwer website.  Great teamwork!

Tom Reck (PM/Lit partner) presented to the Hudson-Bergen Inn of Transactional Attorneys on September 12 on Business Valuations.  Awesome exposure for our lit support expertise!

Jim Bourke (RB partner) presented, “Accounting Software: How to Choose, What Are My Options?” at the Jersey Shore Tech Meetup on September 16 at Cowerks in Asbury Park. He was also the recipient of the Boomer Technology Bridging the Gap
Award at the 2013 Boomer Technology Circles (BTC) Summit in August.  Jim will be speaking on Cloud Computing on October 1 at the Business Valuation, Forensic Investigation & Litigation Services Conference  Jim is always on the go!

Chris DeMayo (MO senior manager) presented on “Taxes and Accounting” to the NYC Startup Powwow on September 17 to a packed conference room in our NYC office. Well done, Chris!

Tony Panico (MO partner) co-presented for a fourth year in a row with Wells Fargo, “Keeping Up with the Rules of Play in Healthcare Reform” on September 17 at Park Avenue Club. Tony will also be presenting, “Obamacare: How the New law will affect you,” on September 30, hosted by Investor’s Savings Bank, with Bill Sansone (RB partner) facilitating.  Great job in keeping our clients and friends of the firm up to date, Tony!

Michael Serluco (RB partner) and Karen Henderson (MO manager) presented at the CT Society of CPAs/CT-HFMA Annual Healthcare Conference on September 18 in Rocky Hill, CT, covering the topics of Revenue Cycle Audits and Healthcare Reform, respectively.  Way to go, Healthcare team!

Tony Nitti (CO/PR partner) gave back to the Colorado communities by providing helpful advice in his Aspen Daily News tax column, Understanding taxbreaks in the flood zone  on September 22.  Also, his tax column  is still going strong.  Feel free to check it out if you have not done so already. Scott Mariani (MO partner) presented this month’s Healthcare webinar on September 25: “Back to School with the IRS: IRS Colleges and Universities Compliance Project,” with over 60 Healthcare and Not-For-Profit clients in attendance. Last month’s webinar was presented by Joe Perez (NB partner) who presented, “Lease Accounting: The Debt Trap” on August 21.  These webinars are a hit with our clients…  Nice work, guys!

Barry Horowitz (NYC partner) and Tony Tuths (NYC partner) spoke to the NYSSCPA Staten Island Chapter members on September 25 on “NYS Residency Requirements and Credit for Taxes Paid.”  Terrific!

Paul Gergel (PR partner) was a featured panelist at the Axium Live event at Slade Architecture in NYC on September 19 for Architects & Engineering firms and business leaders.  That’s specialized expertise right there!

Bill Sansone (RB partner) was a panelist, speaking at the NJSBA “Suddenly Successful” program for solo and small-practice attorneys on September 21 at the NJ Law Center.  Well done!

Cathy Bendall (NB partner) and Joe Scudese (NB partner) are presenting today for the NJ Division of Developmental Disabilities, doing a joint presentation on Cost Allocations for 300 participants who receive funding from the State of NJ Department of Human Services.  Cathy was also a webinar co-presenter on the topic of statement of functional expenses with Stafford webinars on August 21. Great job!

Dave Dacey’s (NB partner) ERISA Sunscreen video blog is garnering rave reviews and media attention, with his recent post, “Timeliness of Deposits” being published in the most recent e-newsletter of  He eats ERISA for breakfast, you know.  Awesome job!!

Wendy Terry (OR partner) was re-appointed to serve on the AICPA  Employee Benefit Plans Expert Panel for the 2013-2014  service year.  Excellent!

Tom Basilo (MO Partner) hosted the Seton Hall Stillman School of Business Center for Entrepreneurial Studies eighth annual Hall of Fame dinner on September 18.  This celebration, which honors entrepreneurship throughout New Jersey, inducted  James M. DiCarlo Jr. (co-founder of Fleetwash, Inc.) and Shannon D.M. Morris (President of Sigma Group).  He was a natural up on stage!

Noel Capuano (PR senior manager) presented on Business Valuations to the Jersey Shore Collaborative Group on September 22 in Atlantic City.  Terrific!
