  • MaryJane Cooper (Litigation Principal) was part of a prestigious group of attorney panelists at Seton Hall Law School on April 3 discussing the topic, “The Affective Assistance of Counsel: Leading with Integrity in Challenging Times.”  Additionally,  her article on independent investigations was published in the April issue of Moxie Woman, page 14. Nice job, MaryJane!
  • Heather Suddoth (Senior Marketing Coordinator) was part a panel discussion on corporate community outreach held at the TCNJ School of Business on Corporate Philanthropy/Social Responsibility on April 16.  Terrific!
  • Tony Tuths (Partner and Financial Services niche Team Leader) presented at the Tax Executives Institute in Chicago on April 23.  Of the 13 different speakers scheduled for the day, he was the only one not from a Big4 firm.  Excellent!
  • In case you didn’t catch it, Tony Nitti (Tax partner and Forbes.com columnist) appeared on CBS Sports Radio on April 24 to talk about how state taxes will impact the first three picks of next month’s NFL draft.  Additionally, Tony’s tax blog continues to be quoted, this month in Bloomberg columnist Richard Rubin’s newsletter discussing “Obamas Paid 20.4% in U.S. Tax on $481,098 of Income in 2013.
  • Bill Morrison (Litigation Partner and Practice Leader) was one of the presenters of a day-long NJICLE seminar entitled, “Modifications of Alimony and Support: Establishing Changed Circumstances in  New Jersey Family Law Proceedings,” held on April 26 at the NJ Law Center in New Brunswick. Great!
  • Ed Mendlowitz (Partner) was quoted in The Wall Street Journal print edition and WSJ.com about filing extensions.  Additionally, Ed’s autobiographical articles and checklists are being posted weekly on the Accounting Today Web Edition.  And finally, his “How to Review Tax Returns” book is now the bestselling book published by CPA Trendlines/Bay Street Group.  Well done, Ed!
  • Tony Panico (Partner and Healthcare Reform Advisory Team Practice Leader) authored a PPACA Update tailored for hospitals which was published in six different Healthcare Financial Management Association (HFMA) chapter publications recently: New Jersey, Metro New York, Philadelphia, Florida, Maine and Northeastern PA.  Great thought leadership!
  • Sarah Cirelli (Marketing Manager, Interactive Marketing) presented at the April 30 NJ Apartment Association’s annual conference on the topic, ““Shifting Marketing Budgets – The Rise of the Social Buyer.”  Way to go, Sarah!
  • Jim Bourke (Partner and Technology Services niche Practice Leader) appears in this month’s issue of NJ CPA magazine discussing the hot topic of “BYOD: Bring Your Own Device.”  Supporting the article is a video to be shared soon on NJSCPA.org, featuring Jim and some other familiar Withum faces who help talk about the subject: Diane McNulty (Partner), Paula Black (Telecommunications Coordinator), Christina Lazaro (Supervisor), Jose Antunes (Supervisor) and Bill Sansone (Partner, the guy eating a sandwich).  Great job, everyone!
  • A great big CONGRATS to Tom Basilo (Partner and all around Great Guy), also known as Professor Basilo, who learned recently that he is one of only three adjunct professors at Seton Hall University Stillman School of Business to be selected as a recipient of the inaugural award, “Adjunct Teacher of the Year.”  What a tremendous honor!!
  • Another congrats goes out to Carola Knoll (Manager) who was recently approved as Vice-Chair of the International Taxation Committee of the NYS Society of CPAs, effective June 1.  Very nice!
