  • Beverly Linane, Manager, and Brian Gibney, Partner, members of our firm’s Technical Resources Department, conducted a half day presentation on SSARS and FASB update for the Essex County Chapter of NJCPA on September 18. Great team work!
  • Dave Dacey, Partner and ERISA niche Practice Leader, joined John Hughes from ERISA Law Group for a webinar on mergers and acquisitions and the impact on employee benefit plans on September 23. Terrific!
  • Dave was also joined by Howard Krieger, Senior Manager and one of our firm’s valuations experts, for a webinar on covering plan termination and M&A considerations related to plan health with an ERISA attorney and representative from the PBGC on September 30.  Well done!
  • Tony Chapman, Partner and SOC Services Practice Leader, presented at the Monmouth/Ocean NJCPA chapter on September 25 on Cybersecurity/NIST Framework. Very nice!
  • Tony Tuths, Partner and Financial Services Practice Co-Leader, presented at the Citi-sponsored “Hedge Fund Tax Roundtable” program in NYC on September 30. Great!
  • Eric Strauss, Partner and Not-for-Profit Services niche member, provided an accounting and auditing update to Feeding America (Food Bank national group) conference on October 12 in New Orleans. Way to give back!
  • It’s been a BIG month for the Healthcare Services Group members (Kudos!):
    • John Smith, Supervisor, published an article on “Ten Reasons to Visit the IRS Website” for the special fall edition of the HFMA-NJ’s magazine Garden State Focus, shared at the NJ/Phila HFMA Annual Institute October 7-8-9.
    • Yours truly published a marketing piece on “Leveraging Social Media for Career Development” which appeared in the same issue.
    • Karen Henderson, Senior Manager, and Hayley Schulman, Supervisor, presented “Final Internal Revenue Code §501(r) Regulations Applicable to Tax-Exempt Hospital Facilities” at the NJ/Phila HFMA Annual Institute on October 7.
    • Sarah Cirelli, Marketing Manager, and I presented “Social Media Trends and Practical Applications for Career Development” at the same conference on October 8. We also shared an encore presentation to the staff of Withum client Children’s Specialized Hospital on October 16.
    • Scott Mariani, Partner and Practice Co-Leader, presented at the ACA Pathways to Healthy Communities: Community Benefit and Beyond conference on the topic of 501r regulations on October 12.
  • Jim Bourke, Partner and Technology Services Practice Leader, continued on with his national… no… global… road show with a presentation on October 13 to the AICPA in San Francisco on “Leadership Skills for the Young Professional.”  Next, he is heading to Bangkok, Thailand on Monday to present at the HLB conference on October 23 with “Deep Dive on Technology for the Global Profession.” Way to go, Jim!
  • Tony Nitti, Tax Partner and Forbes.com columnist, was quoted in an NJBIZ article, “Taking on Trump: Will his tax plan play in N.J.?” Tony was one of two experts to comment on Donald Trump’s ideas as they relate to financial reality. Great thought leadership!
  • Michelle Aurich, Senior Associate, was featured in an article in the Journal for Corporate Renewal, the official publication of the Turnaround Management Association (TMA), entitled, “Snapshots: Michelle M. Aurich, A Cheerful Accountant.” Well done, Michelle!
  • Tony Nitti, Tax Partner, was recently asked by the esteemed publication of our profession, The Tax Adviser, to serve a 5-year rotation on their editorial board. In this role, he will assist in reviewing manuscripts that have been submitted for publication, helping ensure the high standards of articles that are published in The Tax Adviser. He will also be a part of the selection process of the winner of the annual best article award.  Excellent, Tony!
  • Danielle Atkinson, Senior Marketing Coordinator, was recently elected Vice President for the 2016-2018 Association of Accounting Marketers (AAM) NY Metro Chapter. Good luck, Danielle! Great job!
