  • Sara Crozier, Supervisor, was quoted at length in the “MSCPA Members Weigh in on MassTaxConnect” article published in the Fall edition of SumNews, the Massachusetts Society of CPAs periodical. Terrific!
  • Tony Nitti, Tax Partner and columnist, continues to be a leading editorial source during this presidential election year, being quoted this week in a article, “Trump’s Tax Plan Is Still Unclear on How He’d End Up Paying More.” Tony also presented at the October 26 CCH User Conference in Las Vegas teaching “S Corporation Distributions” and “How to Make Your Career What You Want it to Be.” Outstanding!
  • Lauren Taguer, Manager, was a panelist at the first annual Women’s Leadership Symposium at Monmouth University on October 28, hosted by Morgan Stanley and with over 220 people in attendance.  She also presented to the Monmouth University Business School about a career in accounting and becoming a CPA.  Well done, Lauren!
  • Taryn Bostjancic, Partner and Chair of the Operational Committee for our firm’s Women’s Leadership Development Initiative (WLDI), was the organizer of the 14th annual Women’s Leadership Summit of the Middlesex County Regional Chamber of Commerce, with Lt. Gov. Kim Guadagno and Johnson & Johnson security chief Marene Allison as special guests who shared about their experiences in breaking the glass ceiling. Another special guest was our own Sarah Cirelli, Interactive Marketing Manager, who joined a panel discussion on leveraging social media for career development. Excellent!
  • Ed Mendlowitz, Partner and Partners’ Network Founder, presented a full day tax and practice management program for the NJ Association of Public Accountants on September 29.  On October 20, he spoke at his Alma Mater, Baruch College, on “Getting Ready for Tax Season,” and October 23 at the Nassau Chapter of the NYSSCPA on “Succession and Retirement Planning for CPA Firm Owners and Partners.” Great job, Ed!
  • Peggy Gallagher, Senior Manager and A&A Services Group Team Leader, presented a four-credit A&A CPE to the Hudson County chapter of the NJCPA on October 22; a three-credit A&A CPE to the Monmouth/Ocean Counties chapter of the NJCPA, with Ed O’Connell, Partner, and Kathy Masbang, Manager, co-presenting with her on October 26 to 175 attendees; and a two-credit A&A CPE to the Morris/Sussex Counties chapter of the NJCPA on October 27.  Way to go!
  • Healthcare Services Group members Karen Henderson, Senior Manager, and Hayley Schulman, Supervisor, presented their webinar, “Final Internal Revenue Code §501(r) Regulations Applicable to Tax-Exempt Hospital Facilities” to the firm’s healthcare clients and contacts on October 21. Great team work!
  • Chris DeMayo, Partner and Technology Services Team Leader, was recently quoted in an article published on, “Cutting Capital Gains With QSBS Exclusions.” Great thought leadership for tech startups!
  • Bill Newman, Partner and Team Leader of Deathcare Services, was recently published in Funeral Business Advisor with his article, “What Are Your Options at Death: An Informed Decision.” Talk about niche expertise!
  • Dave Dacey, Partner and ERISA niche Practice Leader, published a joint ERISA Sunscreen video blog with PEI’s Dave Hudak, which was picked up by, sharing “How to Prevent Audit Quality from Declining” in their October 12 newsletter.  Fabulous!
  • Jim Bourke, Partner and Director of Firm IT, presented at the Intuit Conference on November 2 in San Jose, CA, on “Advancing your Tax Practice from a Technology Perspective” and session on emerging tax legislative changes that could impact client tax strategies. Great job, as always, Jim!
  • Litigation, Valuation and Insolvency Services members Ken DeGraw, Partner, and Michelle Aurich, Senior Associate, presented “Individual Tax Issues” at the NJICLE program “What Bankruptcy Lawyers Need to Know About Other Areas of the Law” on October 29. Great team work!
  • Tom Hoberman, Partner and Practice Leader of the Litigation, Valuation and Insolvency Services Group, was part of a family law section panel at the NJSBA mid-year meeting in New Orleans on November 6. Excellent!
  • I was excited to have the opportunity to talk about our firm’s amazing culture and all the good things we do to benefit our communities in the blog post shared by Co.Tribute, a software provider for tracking  corporate giving and volunteering impact, in “WithumSmith+Brown: Volunteering Keeps Employees Happy.” So nice of them to feature our firm this month!
  • Congratulations to Bernie Leone, Partner, who was honored this week by the Commerce and Industry Association of New Jersey (CIANJ) with the prestigious Legacy Award, acknowledging him for his many years of dedication and leadership within the organization. The award was presented CIANJ chairman, Martin Kafafian.  Well deserved, Bernie!
