  • Risk Advisory Group members, Sumit Pal, Principal and Practice Co-Leader, and Anurag Sharma, Senior Project Manager, presented a webinar to the firm’s clients and contacts on “Cybersecurity: Are you Prepared?” on October 28. This is a hot topic and well received by attendees. Excellent!
  • Karen Coviello, Senior Marketing Manager, and Austin Hagaman, PWM Manager, were recognized in an Asbury Park Press article covering the first annual Asbury Park Bar Crawl held on November 7, an inaugural effort they organized, resulting in over $4,000 benefitting Covenant House, of which they are co-chairs of the organization’s Associate Board of Central New Jersey.  Drinks and charity? I’d say that’s the Withum Way!
  • Nicole DeRosa, Manager, presented to nearly 100 Kean University students on November 21, sharing insights on her career path to date and any lessons she has learned along the way. Terrific!
  • Sarah Cirelli, Marketing Manager, presented to local prospective students of her alumni Johnson & Wales University on November 21, sharing about her career and also staying behind after to meet and greet with their parents. Way to give back!
  • Kimberlee Phelan, Partner and International Services Practice Leader, spoke to a group of CPAs at Morgan Stanley Wealth Management in Paramus recently, providing an update on what’s hot in international tax. Excellent!
  • Litigation, Valuation and Insolvency Services Group Partners Ken DeGraw and Nicole Lyons presented on “Demystifying Asset Tracing” on November 9 at the National Forensic and Valuation conference in Las Vegas. Wonderful!
  • Barry Horowitz, Partner and SALT Team Leader, moderated a panel titled “New York State Civil and Criminal Tax Enforcement Update” at the NYS Taxation conference on November 10 to over 100 attendees. Barry was joined by SALT team member John Daly, Senior Manager, during their presentation at the NJCPA Bergen Chapter all-day tax seminar on November 14 with over 150 professionals in attendance. Great team work!
  • Rebecca Machinga, Partner and Practice Leader of the Real Estate Services Group, recently spoke at Corenet Global New Jersey Chapter’s Women’s Special Interest Group, leading an interactive leadership conversation about their experiences in the real estate arena including how they got to where they are, how they lead and how they make an impact on the profession. Well done!
  • Justin O’Horo, Partner, and Technology Services Group member, was quoted in a recent AICPA.org article, “How Technology is Changing the Way CPAs Work.” Quoting the article, “Don’t look at his business card… he no longer lists an address on his business cards, explaining that the only address that matters is the email address.” Boom. Great thought leadership!
  • Financial Services members, Tony Tuths, Partner and Practice co-Leader, and Robert Schachter, Partner, presented at the Financial Research Associates 17th Annual Effective Hedge Fund Tax Practices conferences on the topic of State Nexus, Sourcing Rules and other SALT issues affecting Hedge Funds on November 12. Great job!
  • Additionally, Financial Services team members Phil Antico, Senior Manager, and Jessica Cicero, Manager, presented a webinar on “Key Regulatory and Accounting Issues for Broker Dealers” on November 12. Terrific!
  • John Mortenson, Partner and PIC of the New Brunswick office, is also President of the Board of Embrace Kids Foundation, whose mission is to help children with cancer and blood disorders.  Embrace Kids honored Rutgers University head coach Kyle Flood at the annual gala on November 12. You can catch a glimpse of John in the video shared with television stations around the state. Awesome!
  • Marc Stein, Principal and Healthcare Services Group member, presented a webinar on November 18 to the firm’s healthcare clients and contacts on “Risk Mitigation Strategies within an Enterprise Risk Management Process.” Well done!
  • At the recent AICPA National Forensic conference, the inaugural Standing Ovation Awards were presented to 32 individuals under the age of 40 who have distinguished themselves in Forensic and Valuation Services.   • Congratulations to Rick Coyne, Partner, who was honored this week by the Boy Scouts of America Patriot’s Path Council with the 2015 Distinguished Citizen Award, recognizing him for his leadership and service, both in business and as a citizen of his community.  Well deserved, Rick!
