Welcome Innovation and Change

MP MessageI’d like to continue expanding upon the ten traits described in the Withum Way, all of which define our culture and the behaviors which best exemplify our people. Today we will cover point three:

3. Welcome Innovation and Change. Whether with new technology, revised laws and regulations, or just a client who needs to reschedule at the last minute, Withum staff are flexible and open to embracing changes without missing a beat.

There’s an old adage which states, “The only thing that’s constant is change.” Life can’t always be predictable, easy and, well… the same. It’s just not how our fast-paced world works. Whether dealing with people or technology or even the IRS, anything and everything can seemingly change on a dime, and for reasons you may not understand. Being receptive instead of resistant is your best defense when it comes to change or innovation. View it as an evolving process, creating new opportunities to help us learn and grow.

Welcoming innovation and change is also about attitude. When something happens last minute to upset your day’s schedule, you just have to be nimble enough to go with it and do the best you can to appease all parties involved. Do your Outlook toolbars look different since last night’s upgrade? Bring it on! There are probably some new features which will make things easier for you, so go explore for a few moments.

Remember, you have the power to make any situation better when you have a willingness to be flexible. By resisting change, you stand in the same spot that you are standing today, with no progress ever being made toward tomorrow.
