Many of us were glued to the television this weekend, watching our favorite news channels report live from South Florida during Hurricane Irma. Luckily for many, Irma weakened once hitting mainland Florida, but unfortunately the Keys and Caribbean islands were not so lucky, taking the brunt of the hurricane’s force early on. This hurricane season has been difficult already… and it’s only September! We await to hear from our Withum family members who live or own property there on the full extent of how they have been affected. Please keep the victims of both Hurricanes Harvey and Irma in your thoughts in the coming weeks and months as they work to recover.
Despite the crazy weather, please remember that today is the 16th anniversary of the 9/11 terror attacks. We can all remember where we were when the planes struck the buildings on that terrible day. Let us pause to reflect on the events of that tragedy, as well as honor the victims and the heroism of first responders. If you haven’t visited the National September 11 Memorial & Museum located at Ground Zero, I highly recommend it. The museum displays artifacts associated with the events of 9/11, while presenting stories of loss and recovery. It’s a very moving experience, and a reminder of the fortitude of the human spirit.
