National Family Health & Fitness Day

MP MessageAs an important part of our firm’s culture, Withum fully supports health and wellness initiatives in the workplace. Living a healthy, full life is something we should all be striving for every day. We all know that exercising is great for our health, but did you know it can help work performance, as well? According to numerous studies, people who work out are better workers, more productive and happier. Studies show that workers who engage in regular physical activity perform better at their jobs—both in terms of the quality and quantity of work performed—which is something that can really help a company’s bottom line (ahem, thanks for listening).

National Family Health & Fitness Day was observed this past Saturday, September 30th. In support of this national observance, we encourage everyone to take advantage of the pleasant Fall weather by getting outside and moving! Exercise improves your mood, combats chronic diseases, helps you manage your weight, boosts your energy level and promotes better sleep, among other benefits. It’s no surprise workers with excellent health habits display above-par work performance compared to those who don’t exercise.

Attached you will find resources on healthy eating tips, at-work exercise options, and making physical activity count. There are numerous reasons to assume a healthy lifestyle, which includes eating properly and getting in a good amount of exercise each week. By the way, our Withum 300 initiative, where participants are challenged to run (or walk) 300 miles or more over the course of the year, is a great way to log miles and have some fun. As an added incentive, for every mile recorded through this program, the firm donates $0.50 per mile towards the Withum’s Staff Hardship Relief Fund. In 2016, the Withum 300 group of over 180 runners completed over 55,000 miles throughout the course of the year, resulting in over $27,000 being donated to the fund. Follow the progress and personal stories of our runners by visiting the Withum 300 blog at https://withum300.com/. If you would like to join the club, please reach out to Matt Basilo, Interactive Marketing Manager, for more information.

Have a healthy and active week!
