Zero Tolerance Policy

MP MessageHappy Hanukkah to our friends that are in the middle of celebrating this joyous holiday.

On a very serious note and important note, it’s hard to ignore the numerous revelations of famous and powerful people abusing their positions of authority to take advantage of others that have dominated the news in recent weeks. We all listen to these stories with a mixture of sadness, disgust and anger. We felt it was important to remind everyone that Withum is absolutely committed to ensuring and maintaining a safe workplace that is free from harassment, threats or abuse of any kind. In this, we are resolute and unequivocal.

There have been discussions about diversity and inclusion, here in our firm and around the nation. The diversity and inclusion issues we face as a society are significant, with multiple, deep historical roots that reach into the present. They are important for every institution to address, including accounting firms. For our Firm, it is crucial that we continue to cultivate a climate that welcomes talented team members of all backgrounds, and that we combat bias, discrimination, and harassment that can threaten our culture.

In a previous MP message dated May 22nd, there was a discussion of the roll out of our mandatory harassment and diversity video trainings. Thank you for taking the time to take these trainings. We require everyone to have the proper training around these very important topics, ensuring our team members are working in a safe and inclusive environment.

Our policies clearly delineate the expectations we have for all of our team members, and what is acceptable behavior in the workplace. If you feel threatened or intimidated at work based on your gender, sexual orientation, race or any other reason, you are not expected to accept it as normal or business as usual. Multiple options exist for you to report concerns.

Individuals who believe they have been the victims of harassment or believe they have witnessed harassment should immediately discuss their concerns with the Partner in Charge (PIC) of their office/Department Leader, or Talent Management – Human Resources. It is important to emphasize that there will be no negative consequence to you reporting your concerns. Withum has zero tolerance for any kind of retaliation.

It is very important to us that Withum maintains its culture of excellence, where everyone works in a nurturing, respectful environment so they can do their best. This is only possible if all of our team members feel that they can accomplish their important work without fear of dealing with discrimination of any kind.
